I have been in the baking industry for most of my adult life. I choose to offer only cakes and pastries for my business because it is the most gratifing for me.
I started doing cakes when I was 16 years old and was able to take a cake decorating class at MATC. At that time it was just a hobby that turned into a incredible job. I never thought this was something that was going to be my life's work. I have now been designing cakes for over 30 years. Time flies when you are having fun.
Whether creating a birthday cake for a one-year-old's first birthday or a wedding cake for the time crunched newly engaged couple or designing a cake for a baby's baptism we put all of our effort and creativity into your cake so that it will be remembered as being just what you had envisioned when you started planning your special event.
I had worked commercial baking at two retail/wholesale bakeries that had given me experience of working with both the public and behind the scenes. I learned skill with speed to do precision decorating without loosing my artistic sense; this was a necessary compliment to the ability I already had.
I am married to my husband Brian now for 19 years and he has been my greatest asset as he built the commercial kitchen in the lower level of our home that allows me to do the job I like best. He then converted a spare room that had at one time been a into my office - without his support and trust I would not be able to do this job from home.
I love being able to work from home; it has many rewards, especially when the weather is not so nice. I do not need to drive to and from work. Working from home has some drawbacks as well, but the good out weigh the negative. Having opened here in the fall of 1994, we have met some wonderful customers that have turned into lifetime friendships.
